Spring 2020 has been unlike any other. All of us have been affected both personally and professionally by by COVID-19. For me, professionally, the inability to travel, document and photograph has been mind boggling. And personally, spring without baseball has impacted my life in a way I never could have anticipated. Going to Yankee stadium or listening to games while traveling had become a joyful diversion. Now, I just wait. If you or anyone you know is longing for baseball, I have signed copies of my book, CUBA LOVES BASEBALL available on my website. It makes a thoughtful graduation or fathers' day gift. Please see link in my bio. @cubalovesbaseball . . . #baseball #beisbol #cuban #fathersday #cubalovesbaseball #irablock

The lack of shipping and maritime traffic in New York's East River and harbor, coupled with clear skies and clean air, allow for an unobstructed view of the Statue of Liberty. In the first image she is framed by the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. The second photo is from my archive when the statue was engulfed in the fog. At the moment the Statue of Liberty is inaccessible to the public due to COVID-19 closures. . . . . #statueofliberty #nyharbor #irablock #covid19

In New York City we have been asked to wear masks when we venture outside to shop. I don't think this mask is what Governor Cuomo meant. . . . #mask #newyork #takenwithxperia #covid19 #irablock

On this 50th anniversary of Earth Day, as the human race is in pandemic turmoil the earth gains a much needed respite from the excesses of mankind. Whether constellations or northern lights, the skies more clearly reflect the beauty of the earth. In the words of Rachel Carson "Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts" . . . #earthday #rachelcarson #northernlights #climatechange #earth #irablock

6 feet is the magic number in our lives here in the US - 2 meters for the rest of the world. And dining in restaurants is a thing of the past. Peter McManus Cafe is one of the oldest Irish bars here in New York City, and it happens to be around the corner from my home. It's nice that they are staying open and serving the local community with take out meals and in my case a take away Guinness, when I order food! Any normalcy is more than welcome these days. . . . @mcmanusnyc #irishbar #localpub #guinness #covad19 #nyc #irablock

On a nice day here in New York, you can do your math homework on the pavement instead of online. And still keep social distancing. . . . #washingtonsquarepark #homework #socialdistancing #math #arithmetic #irablock

The Oculus in lower Manhattan stands near the footprint of the World Trade Center. It is a reminder and affirmation of how we survived a national catastrophe. Its beauty on an early spring day serves to inspire me that there is hope for the future. . . . #oculus #newyork #lockdown #irablock #sonyalpha

Experimenting with Infrared images in my Chelsea, New York neighborhood. Swipe ◀️ to see more. People are still allowed out to get some fresh air and exercise, especially on a nice sunny day. It certainly made me feel better, but I kept my distance from everyone. . . . #infrared #chelsea #blackandwhite #irablock

Getting out, going for a walk, taking photos - finding something to do during this global crisis. Soon going out on the streets will be limited, though walking and biking for exercise is okay. New York City streets are already empty, and someone is missing a glove.
