The yamdrokyumtso lake in August reflects the deeper sapphire color than the sky. The purity transfer to us via wind, water and life that we never found in city #tibet #tibetancolors #tibetanlakes #nomad #travel #traveling #Himalaya #yamdrok #lake #yamdrokyumtso #canonsg #adventuretravel #scenery

Photo by Michael Yamashita @yamashitaphoto | I'm mesmerized by the emerald waters of high-altitude Tibetan lakes, like this nameless one on route G317 to Lhasa. They're so striking in contrast to the surrounding monochromatic grasslands. These lakes, often made of saltwater, have a mineral content that gives them a green glow. People believe the lakes have spirits and therefore are worshiped by kora, a pilgrimage or circumambulation. The water is not used for anything, no fishing, bathing, boating, or washing—just looked at and admired. And thanks to the lone nomad who happened to be walking by to complete the picture. I wonder where she could be walking in the middle of nowhere. She has a long way to go. #tibet #tibetancolors #tibetanlakes #nomad

Pangong Tso...high altitude lake (14,270 feet)with little oxygen and stunning views of Tibetan mountains. Getting there requires math skills to calculate taking enough gas to get you to the next destination. From Leh, you traverse over Chang La at 17,586 feet. The ride takes roughly 5 hours so plan to spend the night there because your legs will be jello after all those twists and turns without oxygen. . . #pangong #pangongtso #pangonglake #highaltitudelake #ladakh #lehladakh #motorcycle_moment #himalayanlake #himalayanlakes #tibetanlakes #tibetanborder #motorcycletours #cavegirlbiker #whyweride #adventure #travel #travelphotography #bucketlist #explore #adventurer #girlsthatride #natgeotravel #incredibleindia #himalayas #motorcycle #motorcycles #motorcycleofinstagram #awesomehimachal #bikergirl #ladakhtourism

~ Azules Turquesas ~. Never miss out to stop by any of lakes when taking a Tibet tour. Top 10 Tibetan Lakes: Tibet, the plateau with the largest number of alpine lakes on Earth, covers totally 23,800 square kilometers lakes, representing thirty percent of national lake resources. Overall, there are more than one thousand lakes, big or small, three of which exceed one thousand square kilometers, namely Namtso, Siling lake and Zhari Namco. Geographically, lakes in Tibet consist of endorheic lakes and exorheic lakes. The former were formed by continuous crustal movement and were scattered mainly in the north and south of Tibet whereas the latter came into existence as a result of mudslide, volcanic eruption and melted snow or glaciers. To ordinary tourists to Tibet, Lakes are must-see attractions in their tour plan, the top three visited lakes are Namtso Lake,( the biggest lake in Tibet), and Yamdrok Tso Lake( one of the most sacred lakes in Tibet) and Manasarovar Lake ( a holy lake to the southeast of Mt. Kailash), with many more featuring distinct natural scenery. As it is virtually impossible to cover all the lakes in Tibet, 10 major lakes are to be discussed as follows. https://www.tibettravel.org/top-10-lakes/ #Tibet #Tibetanlakes #Lakes #Tibettour #Tibettravel #Lonelyplanet #Tripadvisor #Roughguide
