Nipsey Hussle’s album “The Marathon” is a prime example of feel good music. The album runs about 54 minutes long, and nearly every song on the track consists of Nipsey talking about what he has, or how hard he’s worked to get these items. The difference between him gloating and showing off this stuff, versus talking about it and using it as motivation for the listener is that the listener can hear and see the amount of passion and truthfulness Nipsey has put into the lyrics and songs, making it easier for the listener to believe and relate to what Nipsey is saying. Production on this album wasn’t great, apart from the few samples that were used, such as “Electric Feel” by MGMT and “Runaway” from Kanye West. With that being said, it hurts the score a little, and ruins a few of the songs on the album. Otherwise, Nipsey’s flow and ability to ride the beat was on show on every song on this album, and with the right production, this could’ve been a classic.
